Bridges brings experience and excitement to cheerleading team

E-mail would have to do. Brian Bridges, Ouachita’s new cheerleading coach, only had one chance for the next week to meet with me. We planned the interview for Monday night, while the cheerleaders practiced, and I missed it. My car and I had a date with a ditch and it was about half an hour before I was able to leave there, unharmed but disappointed.  (more…)

I’ve never been a big fan of Andy Warhol. I never really saw the point in portraying a person’s face in the brightest colors available, or recreating boxes from a store shelf, or even flat-colored soup cans. Student Profile: Kati Baldwin

For Kati Baldwin, a sophomore from Conway, Ark., coming to Ouachita wasn’t exactly at the top of her “to do” list. Both her parents are Ouachita alumni, but Kati is a very independent person. “I just don’t want to follow the crowd all the time,” Baldwin emphatically stated. This statement has become her motto, and it certainly affected her while trying to decide on the right school. (more…)

Four feet long with 32-inch barrels and a walnut stock, a rifle that was handcrafted in Arkadelphia, Ark., has now returned home 140 years after it was made. (more…)

OBU women’s basketball wins fourth straight, beats Texas A&M-International

The Ouachita Baptist University women’s basketball team used a huge first-half run to win its fourth straight as the Lady Tigers rolled past Texas A&M-International, 98-85, Tuesday during the opening day of the River City Classic at Bill Greehey Arena on the campus of St. Mary’s University. Ouachita students aid community during Thanksgiving

For three years, Ouachita students have been giving of their time and resources during the Thanksgiving season. The Ben M. Elrod Center for Family and Community directs the Thanksgiving basket project which invites students to distribute baskets of food to area residents in need. This year the project produced a record 44 baskets. (more…)
