Career Services broadens, creates demanding focus

There has been some shifting going on in a first-floor Lile office. The first big change is in the name. What was formerly known as “Career Services” is now called “Career and Corporate Development.” Secondly, the focus has “broadened” according to Barbara Harvel, director of Career and Corporate Development. Ouachita, Henderson students sponsor race to make a difference in literacy, kids’ lives

As National Make a Difference Day rounds the corner the community is preparing to do just that. This Saturday, Oct. 27, at 9 a.m. the seventh annual Race for Books will take place at Ouachita’s cross country track.

Ouachita flag football team travels to state tournment

The moment Team OBU arrived to the state intramural football tournament, they knew it was going to be a tremendous challenge. Little did they know, it was one that would take them through a two-day roller coaster of a ride. Led by strong offensive play, the Tigers averaged 28 points a game, scoring 24 touchdowns in six games.

Ouachita swim team prepares for the Reddies

The Tigersharks started their 2007-2008 season with a win for both the men and women two weeks ago against Delta State. Leading the men, sophomore Nelson Silva took three automatic qualifying times for the NCAA meet. For the women, junior Sarah Watson took the optional qualifying time for the 100 and 200 backstroke.

Turnovers hurt Tigers in loss to Wonder Boys

Six turnovers plagued Ouachita’s football team Saturday afternoon as the Tigers fell to Arkansas Tech 38-28 at Buerkle Field.
Four turnovers led to four scores as the Tigers couldn’t recover from a sluggish start to the second half in dropping their fifth straight loss to the Wonder Boys.

“We Own the Night” captivates audiences for too long

Imagine a road trip through the Colorado mountains. After admiring the massive snow-capped Rockies and the lush green valleys, you turn away from the backseat window for a second to get your camera. As you turn back to snap a picture, you hesitate. Something seems wrong — the mountains look less impressive, the valleys not as green. Not only that, but the same mountain has gone by at least five times. Upon closer inspection, you realize that the once interesting and engaging view has been replaced with a repeating painted background — think Scooby-Doo cartoon scenery.

“Graduation” shows West’s growth as artist and producer

Love him or hate him, Kanye West is here to stay. West has enjoyed success from the moment he arrived on the music scene as a solo artist with his debut album “The College Dropout” in 2004, followed by “Late Registration” in 2005. His latest release is “Graduation.” West has bragging rights with both “College Dropout” and “Late Registration,” as each received numerous awards, among them six Grammies.

Networks see diminished returns with fall 2007 season

Three weeks into the new television season, very little is set in stone, though one trend seems solid: everyone feels the burn. Numbers are down across the board, as every network is largely seeing falters from most of its lineup.
