Christmas is a time where the weather may be frightful, but hearts are filled with warmth at the sight of snow falling, your crazy Aunt Sherrie that you only see once a year or all the bright colored lights illuminating the sky. Getting older always meant getting better presents. However, when I look back upon all of my 21 Christmases I only want to go back in time to my younger years. I would want to wear my pink and purple Minnie Mouse footy pajamas and wake up only to have to wait one more hour before I could wake my parents.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—The Ouachita Saxophone Quartet has been invited to perform at the 33rd International Saxophone Symposium at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., Jan. 15-16.
The Symposium, hosted by the United States Navy Band, has become one of the most prestigious saxophone conferences in the world. It also boasts one of the largest audiences of any saxophone-only event in the country.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—In addition to putting together back-to-back winning seasons on the football field, the Ouachita Baptist University Tigers are committed to being winners off the field.
One winning tradition for the Tigers is their annual team Christmas project. For the past 10 years, Ouachita football players have collected financial donations to help provide Christmas gifts for area children in need.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—The Ouachita Baptist University Board of Trustees elected four new board members during its recent meeting on the school’s Arkadelphia campus.
New Board of Trustees members are Curtis Arnold of North Little Rock, Clay Conly of Bentonville, Mollie Morgan of Mountain Home and Dr. Susan Wamble of Pine Bluff. They succeed four board members who have completed their terms of service: Dr. Jack Hazlewood of Little Rock, Vickie Keeton of Wynne, Dr. Ken Shaddox of North Little Rock and Tony Yocom of Hope.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Seven band students from Ouachita Baptist University have been chosen to participate in the 2010 Arkansas Intercollegiate Band. They will perform for the Arkansas Music Educators Association meeting at the Hot Springs Convention Center on Feb. 18-19.
The seven students selected for the honor are Kelsey Bates, Deborah Caldwell, Paul Hill, Leah Jones, Andrew McCraw, Elyse Senteney and Ruthie Stoner. They are among 100 students from universities across the state who were recommended by their band directors and selected to represent their respective schools.
