A Game Time Message from Dr. Motl
Are you ready for some football, Tiger Nation? Tonight the Ouachita Tigers take on the Steers of Texas College, and now we call on you to provide the best home field advantage in the Gulf South Conference! Last year, the Tigers shocked the nation, decisively beating nationally-ranked programs, and securing a national ranking themselves for the first time in years. Returning most of their starters on both sides of the ball, the Tigers look to continue their campaign of excellence in OBU’s final season in the GSC. With the Tiger Band, Cheerleaders, and Pom Squads on hand, all we need is you to inaugurate a new era of Tiger spirit at A.U. Williams Field! The tailgate party kicks off at 5:00 near the Heflin Tennis Center, and kickoff is at 7:00. After you’ve eaten, Ouachita’s new student spirit organization, Tiger Nation, invites you to be a part of the “Tiger Tunnel!” Shortly before kickoff, all students are welcome to form a corridor between the east ticket gate of A.U. Williams and the north end zone goalpost. The team will walk through the tunnel, and charge out onto the turf knowing that Tiger Nation stands behind them!
One of Ouachita’s enduring virtues is the sense of community we enjoy on our campus. We maintain that community by supporting one another in our endeavors, so represent, Tiger Nation! IT’S GAME TIME!
Ouachita’s Hammons Gallery hosts “The Logo Show!” through Sept. 27
Ouachita Baptist University’s Department of Visual Arts is hosting “The Logo Show!” in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s Hammons Gallery through Sept. 27. “The Logo Show!” features work from nationally recognized graphic designers Rolando Murillo, Tom Nynas and Brian Owens. An opening reception will be held Thursday, Sept. 2, from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery.
“‘The Logo Show!’ is a unique exhibit in the sense that this genre of work, the commercial logo, is not often put on a wall and viewed in a gallery,” said Donnie Copeland, OBU assistant professor of visual arts.
The three Texas-based designers have compiled impressive portfolios, working at some of the top design firms in the U.S. on nationally recognized branding campaigns such as the Kennedy Space Center, American Heart Association, Dallas Museums of Nature and Science, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Gander Mountain and many more. Their work has been featured in such prestigious design publications as Communication Arts, Graphis, and Print.
