OBU Lady Tigers roll in 2nd half to defeat West Georgia, 72-55, to begin 2010
ARKADELPHIA- The Ouachita Baptist Lady Tigers started 2010 in style with a 72-55 victory over West Georgia in a non-conference matchup at Bill Vining Arena in Arkadelphia on Friday. Ouachita (7-4) remained undefeated at Bill Vining Arena, moving to 4-0, after leading West Georgia (5-9) 34-24 at half. The Lady Tigers shot 57 percent in the first half, finishing at 47 percent overall (21-for-44).
Sophomore Domino Miller led Ouachita with 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including 4-of-4 on three-point shots. Senior Angela Colliver added 13 points off the bench, while sophomore Beulah Osueke scored 12 points and six rebounds. Junior Gabby Coleman led the Lady Tigers with nine rebounds, while also scoring nine points.
Ouachita finished at 50 percent (7-of-14) on three-point shots and 79 percent (23-of-29) at the free-throw line. The Lady Tigers held the edge in rebounds, 40-27, but lost the turnover margin, as West Georgia forced Ouachita into 25 turnovers, while only committing 18.
West Georgia’s Whitley Mayberry led all scorers with 19 points, while Renate Lopez and Thomassian Wyatt added 12 and 11 points, respectively. The Wolves shot 33 percent from the field, including 58 percent from three-point range and 45 percent from the free-throw line (5-of-11).
Ouachita Baptist returns to the court Saturday, Jan. 2 against West Alabama in a non-conference matchup at Bill Vining Arena. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.

Lady Tigers drop season opener to Tougaloo
A sluggish start carried over to the second half, as the Ouachita Baptist Women’s Basketball team dropped their season opener to Tougaloo College, 79-70, in a non-conference game held at Duke Wells Gym at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia on Sunday.
Tigers land school-record nine on All-GSC football team
After another impressive Gulf South Conference season, Ouachita Baptist received a school-record nine spots on the All-GSC football team, conference officials announced on Thursday, Nov. 12.
Tigers finish strong to defeat Henderson State, 35-28, in the Coleman Dairy Battle of the Ravine Series
In a game that held true to the Battle of the Ravine rivalry series, it took a late stand for the victory, as Ouachita Baptist held off cross-town rival Henderson State, 35-28 in a Gulf South Conference matchup at A.U. Williams Field in Arkadelphia. With the victory, the Tigers take an all-time series lead in the rivalry, 39-38-6, as Ouachita finishes the 2009 season at 6-4.
