Ouachita welcomes several new faculty and staff members

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—With the fall semester under way at Ouachita Baptist University, several new faculty and staff members have joined the university community.

New faculty members include:

Kathy Collins, instructor of education. Collins, who served for the past year as a visiting instructor at Ouachita, previously was associate director for the Center of Learning and Development in Waco, Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Baylor University and a Master of Education in administration from Tarleton State University.

Tiffany Eurich, instructor of communications. Eurich is a 2005 Ouachita graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications and political science.  She holds a master’s degree in communication studies from Stephen F. Austin State University. She has served since 2007 as a public relations specialist for a dental practice in the Dallas area.

OBU’s 2010 Spotlight on Arkadelphia, set for Aug. 24, features new location

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s17th annual Spotlight on Arkadelphia will feature a new location this year. The campus event will be held at Ouachita’s Heflin Plaza which was dedicated in June.

The annual event, set for Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 8 p.m., is held the night before classes begin for the fall semester. Spotlight provides an opportunity for area businesses, churches and civic organizations to spotlight their services for new and returning students.

Ouachita’s Elrod Center for Family and Community

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—The Ben M. Elrod Center for Family and Community at Ouachita Baptist University recently donated more than 150 new books to Ascent Children’s Health Services in Arkadelphia to fulfill a need for books for preschool children enrolled there.

“As a university, we are committed to serving our community and making it better,” said Ian Cosh, Ouachita’s assistant to the president for community development and director of the Elrod Center. “We believe in being a good neighbor and reaching out to meet the needs of the children in our community through this partnership with Ascent. We are glad to be able to partner with Ascent in meeting this particular need.”

27th annual Foster Grandparent Training Conference set for June 8-10

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—The 27th annual Foster Grandparent Training Conference will be held June 8-10 at Lake DeGray State Park Lodge. Approximately 180 retirees who volunteer as foster grandparents in 27 Arkansas counties are registered to attend.
