Cheerleaders place eighth in national competition

In their first year as a competitive squad, the Ouachita cheerleaders placed eighth in the nation.

The squad began this year with former Arkansas Razorback cheer coach Brian Bridges as their new head coach. Last weekend, Jan. 16-18, the squad traveled 16 hours to Disney World, in Orlando, Fla., to compete in the College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship.

Bridges brings experience and excitement to cheerleading team

E-mail would have to do. Brian Bridges, Ouachita’s new cheerleading coach, only had one chance for the next week to meet with me. We planned the interview for Monday night, while the cheerleaders practiced, and I missed it. My car and I had a date with a ditch and it was about half an hour before I was able to leave there, unharmed but disappointed.  (more…)
