O uachita Baptist University inducted 15 new members into Theta Alpha Kappa national honor society for religious studies and theology March 19.

Each inductee must have a 3.5 GPA in religious studies and/or theology and a 3.0 GPA overall. Residency, class ranking and unit requirements are also considered.

According to the organization’s web site, Theta Alpha Kappa maintains a strong national program of scholarship awards and fellowship competitions. Its primary publication, the Journal of Theta Alpha Kappa, offers an annual prize and the publication of outstanding student papers.

“In fall 2009, our local chapter sponsored six members to attend the annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society in Providence, R.I., “ said Dr. Doug Nykolaishen, assistant professor of Biblical studies at OBU. “And in April, five members are being sponsored to attend the Wheaton Theology Conference in Wheaton, Ill. In both cases, provision for travel funding has been made available by the Pruet School of Christian Studies.”

The following students, in order of hometown, were inducted into Theta Alpha Kappa:

Batesville, Ark.—Sarah Casey, a senior church music major

Benton, Ark.—Richard Adams, a sophomore Biblical studies and Christian theology major, and Austin Walker, a sophomore Biblical studies major

Bryan, Texas—Daniel Karkoska, a sophomore psychology major.

Collierville, Tenn.—Nick Dawson, a junior Biblical studies and Christian theology major

Conway, Ark.—Molly Magee, a junior mass communications and Spanish major

Cypress, Texas—Korrie Browning, a sophomore Christian ministries and mass communications major

Fort Smith, Ark.—Lindsay Shotzman, a junior communication science and disorders major

Hope, Ark.—Thomas Connell, a senior Biblical studies and Christian ministries major, and Keaton Harper, a sophomore church music major

Longview, Texas—Melissa Collier, a sophomore Biblical studies major

Monticello, Ark.—Heidi Sanders, a junior communication science and disorders major

Spring, Texas—Leasha May, a sophomore Biblical studies and Christian missions major

Tomball, Texas—Mark Sumrall, a sophomore Biblical studies major

Van Buren, Ark.—Caitlin McBride, a sophomore Biblical studies and Christian missions major
