B IRMINGHAM, Ala.- Ouachita Baptist junior Libby Merritt has been named to the 2010 Preseason All-Gulf South Conference Volleyball squad, conference officials announced on Wednesday.

The 5′10 Middle Blocker was the lone representative for the Lady Tigers, while incoming freshman Faith Avalos (Coppell, Texas) and Kelsi Bodine (Webb City, MO) were both named to the 2010 Top Newcomers list. Ouachita has been chosen to finish sixth overall in the GSC West Division, behind leader Harding (34), followed by Arkansas Tech (33), Henderson State (26), Arkansas-Monticello (17), Christian Brothers (16), Ouachita (12) and Southern Arkansas (9). West Florida received 11 of 13 votes as the overall GSC Champion.

Merritt finished with 239 kills in 2009, while also adding 48 blocks and 29 digs. The Conway native was also named to the 2009 Preseason All-GSC squad after recording 354 kills during her freshman campaign.

The Lady Tigers begin the 2010 season on Sept. 3 at the Christian Brothers University Tournament in Memphis, Tenn.
