OBU men’s swimming fourth, women sixth after second round

HOUSTON, Texas – The Ouachita Baptist University men’s swimming team is fourth and the women sixth after the second round of the NCAA Division II National Championships Thursday at the CRWC Natatorium.

The Ouachita women have 123 points after two rounds to take sixth. Drury is in the top spot with 285.5, while Wayne State is second with 206. UC San Diego (199) is third, followed by Truman State (163) and Clarion (132.5).

On the men’s side, Ouachita has 138 points to take fourth. Wayne State is first with 232.5, while Drury with 218. Limestone is third with 171.5, followed by Ouachita and Missouri S&T (138).

In the women’s 200 free relay, Ouachita was 11th in the consolation finals as the team of Megan Young, Ksenia Gromova, Brittany Norton and Trina May came in 1:35.44.

In the women’s 400 IM, Katie Patterson took 11th in the consolation finals in 4:28.67. In the men’s event, Nelson Silva took seventh in 3:57.19.

In the 100 women’s butterfly, Gromova placed ninth in 56.06 in the consolation finals, while Max Heinze was fifth in the men’s event in 48.39.

In the women’s 400 free relay, the team of Sarah Watson, Jenny Christensen, Gromova and May placed second in 3:44.44. Meanwhile, the men’s team of Silva, Hal Eubanks, Heinze and Radu Badalac were also second in 3:14.21

The NCAA Division II Championships continue March 13-14 in Houston, Texas.
