Rascal Flatts prove “Unstoppable” with release of new album

April 16, 2009

Rascal Flatts is proving that the group is just as their new album describes: “Unstoppable.”

“Unstoppable” is the band’s sixth original album. It was released Tuesday, the day after the band won its seventh consecutive ACM (Academy of Country Music) Vocal Group of the Year trophy, setting a new record.

The band seems to have found a niche, which may prove to be troublesome down the road, but does not lessen the quality of its music. The mix of country and rock will continue to attract listeners from all genres. The CD has 11 songs, all worth listening to.

When the album’s release was announced at the beginning of this year, the band also launched a contest to have fans design the cover. Fans were provided with two pictures and a variety of logos. The current cover is the winner.

The band released four songs through iTunes the four weeks preceding the release. “Here Comes Goodbye” was first, with “Forever,” “Love Who You Love” and “Things That Matter” following.

The first single, “Here Comes Goodbye” is a ballad typical of Rascal Flatts’ style. Lead singer Gary LeVox begins the slow song, with the other guys joining in closer to the chorus in the background.

The tracks include other ballads and additional songs that provide some upbeat tempo. “Summer Nights” is definitely a song to enjoy, well, in the summer.

My favorite song on the album has to be the title track. I can see my faith in God being described in the song, as well as my faith in people. It is inspirational in true Flatts’ style.

I would also recommend “Love Who You Love” as a track not to miss. It is upbeat and catchy and is one of those songs you cannot help but sing along with.

I will enjoy this album for awhile, but I anticipate the guys breaking out of their normal styles. For now, I’ll be content to play “Unstoppable” without stopping.
