After series sweep, OBU baseball jumps two spots to number three

After getting its first series sweep of the season and winning all four games last week, the Ouachita Baptist University baseball team continued to climb up the polls as the Tigers jumped two spots to No. 3 in the College Baseball Newspaper Poll Monday.

Ouachita (9-2) is one of two Gulf South Conference schools ranked inside the Top 5. Southern Arkansas, which completed a very successful weekend at West Alabama, is fourth with an 8-3 record. Lynn University becomes the new No. 1, boasting an 8-1 record to leap eight spots to claim the top position. Cal State Stanislaus (8-1) made the biggest jump of the week from 30th to second. Behind OBU and SAU is Mesa State (5-2) in the fifth spot.

Other notable Gulf South Conference schools ranked in the poll were Valdosta State (8-2) 11th, North Alabama (10-3) 16th, West Florida (7-3) 17th and West Alabama (6-3) 23rd.

Ouachita returns to action 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17 at East Central University in Ada, Okla. The two seven-inning games will not be broadcasted.
