Chambers named GSC Softball Player of the Week

ARKADELPHIA- Ouachita Baptist senior Haley Chambers has been named Gulf South Conference Softball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Tuesday.

Chambers had an extraordinary week at the plate, going 13-for-19 at the plate, including four doubles, two home runs, a triple, and an impressive 15 RBI in the six-game week, as Ouachita (21-6, 6-2) went 5-1, including a 3-1 series victory over Arkansas Tech at home.

The senior hit .684 combined with a two-game series sweep over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-11), followed by the series win over the Golden Suns (11-11, 1-3). On the season, the Booneville native leads Ouachita in multiple categories, including batting average at .469 with six home runs, 12 doubles and 37 RBI.

Ouachita Baptist returns to Sully Anderson Field on Tuesday, March 16 to take on Illinois-Springfield in a non-conference double header that begins at 4 p.m.
