Elisabeth Hipp to present junior vocal performance recital March 12

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Elisabeth Hipp, a junior vocal performance major from Memphis, Tenn., in her junior recital Friday, March 12, at 2 p.m. in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall.

Hipp recently earned first place in Ouachita’s Mary Shambarger Competition for Singers as well as first place in the junior women division of the recent National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Arkansas auditions. She will perform Sunday, March 14, as a finalist in Trinity United Methodist Church’s Collegiate Performance Showcase in Little Rock, Ark.

Hipp’s recital will begin with Georges Bizet’s “Je dis que rien ne m’épouvante” from Carmen, followed by Gustav Mahler’s “Ich atmet’ einen linden Duft.” She will then perform Giacomo Puccini’s “Signore, ascolta!” from Turandot and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Vocalise” before concluding the recital will Leonard Bernstein’s “Glitter and Be Gay” from Candide, the same selection that earned her first place in the recent Shambarger Competition. Hipp will be accompanied on piano by Phyllis Walker.
