Former OBU baseball player Pennell selected to All-Canadian Team

Former Ouachita Baptist baseball player Justin Pennell was selected Tuesday to the Ninth Annual Canadian Baseball Network’s All-Canadian College Team.

Pennell, who received 19 first-place votes, batted .359 last season with 15 home runs and 77 RBIs for the Tigers was named to the All-Canadian College Team. He had 85 hits, 68 runs scored, 26 stolen bases and finished with a .620 slugging percentage.

The native of Toronto, Canada, earned several postseason accolades last season, including being selected All-South Central Region Tournament Most Outstanding Player. As a senior, Pennell also was named to the Daktronics All-South Central Region Second Team and Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-South Central Region Second Team.

For his performance in right field, Pennell became the third Ouachita player to earn a Rawlings Gold Glove, joining David Fischer and Jim Streicher.
