Men’s tennis team rolled to 8-1 victory over Panthers

A week after downing No. 11 Drury, the 14th-ranked Ouachita Baptist University men’s tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory over the Panthers on Saturday.

The Tigers (9-0) swept all three doubles matches as the team of Jean Charles Diame and Pierre Tafelski defeated Anton Khadasevich and Juan Ponce, 8-3. Jan Plewinski and Till Heilshorn topped Nahom Serekeberhan, 8-4, while Szymon Judek and Vasek Stverka beat Antonio Garcia and Alex Kacamakis, 8-4.

The lone Drury victory came at No. 4 singles as Tafelski fell to Kacamakis, 6-3, 6-1. The Tigers picked up a win at No. 5 singles as Daniel Moser defeated Garcia, 6-4, 6-2 and Judek came from behind to win against Marvic, 1-6, 6-2, 7-6. In a showdown against two ranked opponents, No. 26 Plewinski topped No. 47 Serekeberhan, 7-6, 6-3, and Heilshorn defeated Khadasevich, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1. Diame ended the day with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win over Khadasevich.

Ouachita returns home 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 13 to take on the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith at the Heflin Tennis Center.
