OBU cross country second at Bob Gravett Invitational

Hannah Howard crossed the finish line just two seconds shy of tying Southern Arkansas’ Kendall Mears as the Ouachita Baptist women’s cross country team placed second at the Bob Gravett Invitational Tuesday.

Howard, who has finished twice this season to Mears, came across the line in 19:41. Mears finished the meet in 19:39.

Southern Arkansas won the event with 34 points. Ouachita Baptist was second with 38, while Henderson State (51) and the University of the Ozarks (117) rounded out the field in third and fourth place, respectively.

Logan Lyles was the next Lady Tiger to finish in fifth place in 21:38 as Ouachita Baptist had six runners in the top 15. Amanda Boyce (21:53) was eighth, while teammate Hannah Wagley (22:39) placed 11th. Nikki Anderson (22:51) and Monica Davis (22:56) were right behind Wagley in 12th and 13th.

Danielle Pickle (25:03) took 21st and Marcie Bealer (25:08) was 22nd. Melanie Joy Williams rounded out the field for the Lady Tigers, crossing in 28:23 for 29th place.

The next meet for Ouachita Baptist will take place Oct. 2 in the Lyon Invitational in Batesville, Ark.
