OBU football climbs into Super Regional Two rankings

After reeling off three consecutive victories, the Ouachita Baptist University football team climbed into the NCAA Division II Super Regional Two rankings Monday afternoon.

The Tigers, who are 5-3 overall and 5-3 in NCAA Division II play, enter the poll ranked 10th. Ouachita is one of five Gulf South Conference Schools in the Super Regional Two Rankings.

Delta State holds on to the top spot with a 7-1 record. North Alabama (8-1) is third, Valdosta State (6-3) is fourth and Arkansas-Monticello (7-2) is sixth. Wingate (8-1) is right behind the Statesmen in second. Other nonconference schools in the poll are Tusculum (6-3) in fifth, Carson-Newman (6-2) in seventh, Albany State (5-3) in eighth and Mars Hill (6-3) in ninth.

The Tigers, who can win six games for the first time since 1985, conclude the home portion of the schedule with Senior Day 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1 against West Alabama as Ouachita will also honor five former athletes, who will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame, at A.U. Williams Field.
