OBU men’s soccer falls to No. 16 West Florida

The Ouachita Baptist men’s soccer team gave up a pair of first-half goals to No. 16 West Florida and couldn’t recover as the Tigers dropped a 4-1 decision to the Argonauts in a Gulf South Conference match Friday afternoon at the OBU Soccer Complex.

Rafael Segal opened the scoring on an assist by Nolan Intermoia in the 18th minute to give West Florida a 1-0 lead. The Argonauts would added one more before the break as Matt Brooks scored in the 41st minute.

Ouachita (2-2-1 overall, 0-1-1 GSC) got an unassisted goal in the 60th minute by Alex Tonrey to cut the deficit to 2-1, but West Florida (8-1-1, 1-0) got goals by Paul Willoughby in the 64th minute and Jason Ream in the 84th minute to put the game away.

Neal Ozmun recorded a pair of saves in the first half, while West Florida goalkeeper Thomas Olmstead didn’t record a save.

The Argonauts had 11 shots, while Ouachita took two.

The Tigers, who are seeking their first GSC win, play host 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 5 against Montevallo in a key conference tilt at the OBU Soccer Complex.
