OBU swimming sweeps Delta State

November 10, 2008

There was no doubt Saturday which school had the better swimming and diving teams as Ouachita Baptist University swept Delta State in the “Dual Meet of the Week” at the Waggoner Pool.

On the women’s side the TigerSharks overcame Delta State, 127-112, while the men cruised past the statesmen, 137-100.

“We needed the competition,” Ouachita Baptist head swimming coach Ryan Killackey said. “Our ladies had to swim well as a team to give them a chance against Delta’s women squad. They did what they needed to do to overcome this dominant team. We have a lot of work to do before February and March.

“We have to get our younger swimmers to be able to handle the pressure of a big meet. Delta State swam well and beat us in several events. They should be happy with their performance. I thought that Roman Sereda, especially had a good meet for them and on the women’s side their divers were very strong as well as the freestylers and fliers.”

Ouachita Baptist now turns their sights toward the Henderson State Invitational this weekend, November 14-15th, at the Duke Wells Center.
