OBU Women’s Tennis blanked by No. 29 UT-Tyler

The Ouachita Baptist University women’s tennis team was blanked Saturday, 9-0, to No. 29 UT-Tyler at the Summers Tennis Center.

In doubles play, the team of Beth Launis and Michelle Hagler defeated Natalia Drada and Tavu Fa, 9-8 (7-4) and Brittany Ude and Lauren Giovannini beat Marianna Divardin and Katie Potts, 9-8 (11-9). In the finals doubles match, Sydni Hermsdorf and Hillary Stone topped Thoko Zulu and Megan Ruggles, 8-0.

In singles play, Launius defeated Divardin, 6-2, 6-0, while Hagler toppled Drada, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8. Giovannini knocked off Fa, 6-4, 2-6, 10-4 and Hermsdorf defeated potts, 6-0, 6-3.Ude beat Zulu, 6-0, 6-1 and Morgan Wilkins defeated Ruggles, 6-1, 6-1.

Ouachita (1-1) returns to action Friday, Feb. 20 at the Heflin Tennis Center against Northeastern Oklahoma State.
