Ouachita Baptist University senior outfielder Blake Lockwood was honored Wednesday as he was selected the Gulf South Conference West Division Player of the Week.

Lockwood, a native of Stuttgart, Ark., earned his first-ever GSC West honor after having an outstanding week at the plate.

The senior center fielder hit .474 with eight RBIs and three extra-base hits in four away games this past week. In two wins over then-No. 23 West Alabama, Lockwood was 5-for-10 with a pair of runs batted in and his second home run of the season. The leadoff man smacked a double and was 2-for-5 with two more RBIs against No. 16 St. Joseph’s on Saturday.

Southern Arkansas’ James Schroeder earned GSC West Division Pitcher of the Week.

No. 17 Ouachita returns to action with five games on tap this weekend, starting 1:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27 at Rab Rodgers Field against Wisconsin-Parkside. The Tigers will then play host to Stillman College in a three-game series starting Saturday.
