Ouachita Baptist moves to No. 3 in ITA Men’s Tennis rankings; face No. 8 Florida Southern on Friday

MIAMI SHORES, Florida- Ouachita Baptist moved to No. 3 nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Men’s Tennis rankings, officials announced on Thursday. The Tigers were ranked No. 4 in the country before the jump.

Ouachita (17-2) will face No. 8 Florida Southern (15-7) in the second round of the 2010 NCAA Division II South Regional Tournament on Friday at 1 p.m. at the San Souci Tennis Center in Miami Shores, Florida. Florida Southern blanked Morehouse (5-8), 5-0, on Thursday to advance to second round action.

In singles rankings, sophomore Jean Charles Diame makes the jump to No. 14 overall nationally, after recently being ranked at No. 18, while senior teammate Jan Plewinski dropped to No. 26 overall after being at No. 23. Junior Till Heilshorn moved up one spot in singles play to No. 34, while sophomore Pierre Tafelski jumped nine spots to No. 41.

The doubles duo of freshman Tobias Kuhlmann and Heilshorn debut in the national doubles rankings at No. 28 overall.
