Ouachita Flute Choir recital set for April 29

April 27, 2010

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—The Ouachita Baptist University Flute Choir will perform a recital on Thursday, April 29, at 8 p.m. in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall on OBU’s campus.

“This concert will be an interesting event because of the variety of works performed and the various members of the flute family that will be heard,” said Flute Choir Director Kristin Grant, OBU instructor of music.

Dr. David Etienne, professor of music at Henderson State University, will join the choir as a special guest. He will perform a piece on the contra bass flute specifically composed for the recital.

“We are so excited to be introducing the contra bass flute in this recital, and we are grateful to Dr. Etienne for his involvement,” Grant said.

Several students will also be featured throughout the recital, including: Aubrey Elliot, a junior instrumental music education major from Bentonville, Ark.; Elyse Senteney, a sophomore instrumental music education major from Plano, Texas; and Kristin Penn, a senior music and psychology double major from Arkadelphia, Ark.

The recital is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the School of Fine Arts at (870) 245-5129.
