Ouachita hosts The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps in open rehearsal July 27

July 28, 2010

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University will host The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps Tuesday, July 27, for rehearsal. They will rehearse all day with a performance of their most recent show from 7-10 p.m. at A.U. Williams Field.

The elite corps is nearing the end of its 2010 national tour, which will culminate in the Drum Corps International World Championship in Indianapolis. Ouachita senior Travis Blanton of Garland, Texas, will be playing with the The Cavaliers, a 128-member, male-only drum and bugle corps that was established in 1948.

The Cavaliers, based out of Rosemont, Ill., have a winning tradition in international competition. Robert Hesse, director of athletic bands at Ouachita, encourages the public to attend, saying the “world class” Cavaliers consistently perform “great music with unbelievable showmanship.”

The performance is free and open to the public. In case of rain, The Cavaliers will perform on the band practice field, located east of A.U. Williams Field next to the Crews Indoor Practice Facility. For more information on The Cavaliers, visit www.cavaliers.org.
