ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s School of Fine Arts will present Alexis Pace in her sophomore musical theatre recital Friday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall on Ouachita’s campus.
Pace is presenting the recital as a requirement for her bachelor of music degree.
“Personally, this recital is a really great way to showcase what I’ve been working so hard on since I’ve been here,” Pace said. “I really love all of these songs, and getting to perform them will be really great.”
Pace, a mezzo-soprano from Sugar Land, Texas, earned first place in the 2010 Hot Springs Music Club Scholarship Auditions and is a member of Ouachita Sounds.
Pace will open the recital with Debussy’s “Beau Soir,” followed by Carissimi’s “Vittoria mio core!” and Praetorius’ “Es ist ein Ros’ entsprungen.” She will move into the English language portion of the recital with Bock’s “Feelings” from “The Apple Tree.” Pace will then perform Howland’s “The Most Amazing Thing” from “Little Women” assisted by DeCarl Jones, a freshman vocal performance major from Rowlett, Texas, and Bethany Swiontek, a sophomore choral music education major from Colorado Springs, Colo. Pace will conclude the recital with Yazbek’s “Here I Am” from “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.”
Pace is a student of Suzetta Glenn, OBU lecturer in music, and will be accompanied on the piano by Susan Monroe.
