Pruet School of Christian Studies to present annual OBU Pastors’ Conference

September 8, 2008

Ouachita Baptist University’s Chesley and Elizabeth Pruet School of Christian Studies (PSCS) will present the annual OBU Pastors’ Conference beginning Thursday, Sept. 25, in Walker Conference Center on Ouachita’s campus.

This year’s leaders will be Dr. Danny Hays, dean of the Chesley and Elizabeth Pruet School of Christian Studies and professor of Biblical studies, and Dr. Doug Nykolaishen, acting chair of the department of Biblical studies and assistant professor of Biblical studies.

Every September, the PSCS sponsors a pastors’ conference with a theme that coincides with the upcoming Southern Baptist Convention’s “Winter Bible Study.” This year’s theme will be “Studies in Exodus: Living in Awe of God.”

“The pastors’ conference is always a great time of meeting and fellowshipping with God’s servants who are working hard all across the state to build up the church,” Hays said. “We want to do all we can to help and encourage them.”

During the conference, participants will have the opportunity to attend four sessions on Exodus, receive a complimentary copy of the NIV Application Commentary on Exodus and to purchase PSCS-authored books at a discount price.

Ouachita will welcome pastors from all over the state to the conference. Hays said the Christian studies faculty both hope to help pastors and receive input about pastoral training. Through this conference, Hays said that Ouachita is able to “stay in close contact with current pastors [and] maintain friendships with the pastors of Arkansas.”
