ARKADELPHIA- In the same fashion as a season ago, Ouachita Baptist secured a trip to the Gulf South Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Harding in the final conference matchup of the season in Searcy on Friday.

Ouachita (10-5, 3-2 GSC) scored in the first and second half to defeat Harding (2-13, 1-3 GSC). The Tigers secured at least a No. 2 or No. 3 seed, dependent upon on how the Harding and Christian Brothers matchup goes on Tuesday.

The Tigers struck first in the first half, as sophomore Payam Pourjavad recorded his second goal of the season at 29:37, as sophomores Rizvan Ceka and JT Goodrum assisted. Pourjavad finished a header from 10 yards out, putting the shot in just past the keeper’s hands for a 1-0 lead.

Ceka stretched the lead to 2-0 at 81:50 with his 10th goal of the season, on a shot from 15 yards out off of a deflection as freshman Justin Lowry provided the assist.

Harding held a slim advantage in shots, 14-13, while Ouachita freshman keeper Grayson Townsend recording his fourth shutout of the season with six saves against the Bisons.

Ouachita finishes the 2010 regular season against Houston Victoria at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31.
