Xavier Lagunas to present sophomore musical theatre recital March 12

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Xavier A. Lagunas, a sophomore musical theatre major from Arlington, Texas, in his sophomore recital Friday, March 12, at 11 a.m. in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall.

Lagunas earned first place in the sophomore men division as well as second place in the lower musical theatre division of the recent National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Arkansas auditions.

Lagunas’ recital will begin with Francesco Paolo Tosti’s “La Serenata,” followed by Johannes Brahms’ “Wie Melodien zieht es mir” and Jules Massenet’s “En fermant les yeux” from Manon. He will then perform Adam Guettel’s “How Glory Goes” from Floyd Collins and will conclude the recital with Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick’s “She Loves Me” from She Loves Me. Lagunas will be accompanied on the piano by Susan Monroe.
