ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- A 40.4 percent game from the floor was not enough to steal a game from the Southeastern Oklahoma Savage Storm (9-15, 5-7 GAC) on Saturday afternoon, as the Ouachita Tigers (12-10, 5-7 GAC) fell to SEOSU by a final score of 71-55.
The Tigers were led by juniors Michael Morris and Austin Mitchell, both of which finished with 14 points in the game. Mitchell was unable to match his stellar shooting performance at Southern Arkansas on Thursday, only hitting four of his 13 attempts from the floor. Morris recorded a team-high seven rebounds for the Tigers while juniors Nigel Ramsey and Julian LaDay both dished out a team-high four assists.
Southeaster was led by the offensive performance of Urald King, recording 20 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while also looking to Steven Kohli, who finished with 18 points, for a heavy dose of offensive production. Chris Roussell posted 13 points for SEOSU while Ivan Johnson added 10. Southeastern shot 56.4 percent from the floor in the game, ultimately seeming to be the difference.
The Tigers only turned the ball over nine times in the game while the Savage Storm turned it over 10 times. The only significant difference in a stat category was in the total number of fouls for each team. The Tigers fouled 25 times as compared to Southeastern’s 11.
Ouachita looks to rebound on Thursday, when they travel to Searcy, Arkansas for what is sure to be a battle with Harding. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
