No. 15 Ouachita Boasts Number One Defense in Country After Two Weeks of Play

September 13, 2012

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- Along with the honor of being ranked No. 15 in the country, the Ouachita Tigers have, deservingly so, posted the best defensive numbers in the country after their first two games of the 2012 season.

So far this season, the Tiger defense has only allowed a total of 220 yards in two games, including a performance in which they held Stillman College to just 106 yards of total offense. Ouachita has not yet allowed a touchdown this season, and the only score by an opponent came in their week one contest against Northwestern Oklahoma, when the Rangers were able to record a field goal.

Ouachita is currently holding an 86-3 point spread and a +2 turnover margin through two games and also sit seventh in the country in total sacks, with 10 so far this season. The Tigers sit in at least the Top 20 in the country in a number of defensive categories.

The Tigers will get a chance to look on this week, as they rest up and prepare for their Great American Conference opener on Saturday, September 22 against Arkansas Tech. That game will be at A.U. Williams Field in Arkadelphia and is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m
