Men’s Tennis Players Advance to National Championship

Ouachita’s men’s tennis team finished off a successful run at the USTA/ITA Fall Central Regional Championships on Sunday.

Sophomore Marko Boskovic claimed the men’s singles title over his teammate, sophomore Vitor Oliveira.

Following the singles, Boskovic and Oliveira teamed up to win the doubles title.

In the men’s singles semifinals, Boskovic and Oliveira both claimed victories in their matches to advance to the men’s singles final.

Boskovic took down Southwest Baptist’s Kristof Kinal 3-6, 6-2, 10-3, while Oliveira defeated Northwest Missouri’s Alvaro Riveras 6-4, 2-6, 10-5.

In the men’s doubles final, Boskovic and Oliveira claimed the title with a 6-2, 7-6 victory over Northwest Missouri’s Sergio de Vilichez and Luis Altimeres.

The two Tigers met again in the finals match, with Boskovic claiming the title with a score of 6-0, 6-0.

Both Boskovic and Oliviera will move on to the USTA/ ITA National Small College Championships.

Boskovic will compete for the national singles title against seven other players. Oliveira will team up with Boskovic to compete for the national doubles title.

The event will be at Three Oaks Tennis Center in Fort Myers, Fla., on Oct. 10-13.
