Baseball falls one spot in one poll, but jumps three spots in another

After going 5-0 on the week, the Ouachita Baptist University baseball team dropped one spot to No. 18 in the NCAA Division II College Newspaper Poll Monday, but jumped three spots to No. 3 in the Ping!Baseball Division II rankings.

The Tigers (16-5) took two games from Wisconsin-Parkside and a three-game series of Stillman to go perfect for the week.

Ouachita is one of four Gulf South Conference teams in the poll. Southern Arkansas (14-4) leaped two spots to be tied for the top spot with Cal State Stanislaus (12-3). North Alabama (16-4) leaded 12 spots to No. 7, while Montevallo (13-5) entered the rankings tied for 30th.

Abilene Christian (14-4) is tied for third with Mesa State (12-3) and Grand Valley State (1-0) rounds out the top 5.

In the Ping!Baseball rankings, Ouachita is third behind Southern Arkansas and Tampa. Behind the Tigers are Central Missouri and Abilene Christian. Gulf South Conference school’s Henderson State is 26th, while West Florida is 27th.

Ouachita returns to action 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 3 at Gabe Nesbitt Field in McKinney, Texas against Tarleton State. The game WILL NOT be available to listen to on the internet.
