Ouachita’s Career and Corporate Development Office to host Career Fair April 7

March 31, 2010

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s Career and Corporate Development Office will host a Career Fair for all majors on Wednesday, April 7, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., in Ouachita’s Walker Conference Center.

“The Spring Career Fair is a great way to make connections with employers,” said Mallory Moddelmog, director of Career and Corporate Development. “Whether you are a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior, it is a smart way to network and get yourself out in front of employment recruiters. It is also a great chance for students to learn about career options as well as get a sense of who is hiring.”

Students will have the opportunity to speak with employment recruiters from more than 50 companies in a variety of industries. Available positions include full-time, part-time and internships.

“I think employers are interested in recruiting OBU students due to the caliber of students at Ouachita,” Moddelmog said. “OBU produces such a quality product, and employers are extremely interested in hiring our students. Employers attend our Career Fair to advertise their organization and increase their visibility with our students.”

To prepare for the fair, students can take part in a workshop led by Moddelmog titled “How Do I Prepare for a Career Fair?” It will be held Tuesday, March 30, from 12:15 to 1 p.m. in the Ouachita Commons Alumni Room. The workshop will address how to research companies attending the fair and what questions students should ask, as well as how to dress and how many resumes to bring. She will teach students how to make a good first impression and craft a 60-second sound bite about yourself.

Students unable to attend the fair are invited to attend Henderson State University’s Career Fair the same day from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in HSU’s Garrison Center.

For more information about the fair, including a complete list of participating organizations, visit www.obu.edu/career or contact Mallory Moddelmog at moddelmogm@obu.edu or (870) 245-5593.
