Adams named to Daktronics All-South Region Women’s Basketball Team

ARKADELPHIA- Ouachita Baptist junior A’Laeshia Adams has been named to the 2010-11 Daktronics All-South Region Women’s Basketball Second Team, officials announced on Wednesday.

Adams has averaged 17.4 points in 28 games, leading the Lady Tigers to the 2011 NCAA South Regional Tournament on Friday, as Ouachita faces No. 21 Florida Southern at 1 p.m. in Russellville.

The Little Rock native is an All-Gulf South Conference First Team selection in 2011 and was named to the GSC All-Tournament Team a week ago. The 5’8 guard has produced 71 steals and 67 assists to go along with a 42.6 overall shooting percentage on the year. Adams has connected on 52 three-pointers made and also adds a 4.3 rebounds per game average.

In four of the past five games, Adams has led Ouachita in scoring, while accomplishing the feat 15 times on the season. Of her top offensive games of the season, Adams has scored 20-plus points on nine different occasions, including a season-high of 30 against Henderson State on Nov. 24.

Delta State senior forward Veronica Walker was named as the Region Player of the Year, while Adams was one of five GSC members on the team of the total 11 overall. Adams is the only player among the 11-member team from the state of Arkansas.
