•Opera legend LUCIANO PAVAROTTI received one final standing ovation at his funeral in Modena, Italy on Saturday after a video was shown of a performance with his father. Pavarotti died Thursday, Sept. 6 at the age of 71. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year.

•The title for the long-awaited fourth installment in the Indiana Jones series has been announced. “INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL,” directed by Steven Spielberg is set to be in theaters May 22, 2008. Harrison Ford will return as Jones and will be co-starring with Shia LaBeouf and Cate Blanchett. Sadly, Sean Connery will not be reprising his role in the adventure series.

•The highly anticipated Western “3:10 TO YUMA” shoots down “Halloween” to the number two spot at the box office this weekend, bringing in an estimated $14.1 million. This remake of the 1957 film of a struggling rancher who sets out to bring an outlaw to justice stars Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. “Superbad,” “Balls of Fury” and “The Bourne Ultimatum” rounded out the top five.

•The MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS air Sunday night in Las Vegas, Rihanna’s “Umbrella” won the award for video of the year while Justin Timberlake and Fergie took awards for best male and female artists. Britney Spears’ opening performance is cited for bringing record ratings.

•Actresses WHOOPI GOLDBERG and SHERRY SHEPHERD are completing the panel on ABC’s ‘The View.’ Goldberg made a controversial debut on Sept. 4 and Shepherd made her debut on Sept. 10. The show has not had five co-hosts since the spring of 2006.

•RALPH LAUREN celebrated in style as he presented his 40th anniversary collection  outside the Conservatory Gardens in Manhattan’s Central Park on Saturday. The crowd, which included fellow designers celebrities, gave Lauren a standing ovation. The theme of his spring collection was a day at the races.

•APPLE cut the price on the  iPhone last Wednesday, contributing to the millionth phone sold on Sunday, only 74 days after release. The iPod did not accomplish that sales mark for  two years.
