Golf set to tee off new season

February 24, 2009

Golf season is beginning to heat up and the Tigers are looking to make some noise in the Gulf South Conference.

The Tigers are anchored by a strong senior class led by Klayton Seyler, Blake Sisson and Bobby Allen, but it is the play of the rest of the team that is making a difference so far this year.

Rob Greer is constantly shooting near the top of the field, and transfer Cole Fisher continues to perform consistently.

“I think Fisher could really be good this semester,” Greer said. “He has gotten familiar with the team and his role that he plays. We play his home golf course twice this semester so he could go low and play really well and it would not surprise me at all.”

With all this new talent, there are high expectations for the Tigers.

“We have one of the strongest teams we have had in a while,” Greer said.“We should be able to do well in a lot of tournaments and come away with some wins this year.”

Already this year the Tigers have had two top 15 finishes and are looking to improve on that.

“There is always room for improvement and I think our team will rise to the challenge,” junior Dax Demaree said. “I think we’ll want to end on a good note.“

The Tigers will compete at the Henderson State Invitational in Hot Springs on Feb. 23rd.
