March 4, 2009

For the second straight week, the Ouachita Baptist University baseball team had one player selected Gulf South Conference West Division Player of the Week as Will Gowdy picked up the honors Tuesday.

Gowdy, a native of Amarillo, Texas, claimed his first-career honor as GSC West Division Player of the Week following a great week at the plate. The junior first baseman hit .592 with four RBIs and five doubles. Gowdy plated eight runs while slugging a massive 1.308.

Southern Arkansas’ Hayden Simpson earned Gulf South Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing the first no-hitter in the conference since 2006 against Culver-Stockton.
