Lady Tiger Softball Drops Both Games of Doubleheader to Southwestern Oklahoma

WEATHERFORD, Okla.- The Ouachita Lady Tigers (14-17, 4-8 GAC) traveled to Weatherford, Oklahoma this weekend for a conference series against the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State (23-8, 10-4 GAC). Ouachita was unable to grab a road victory on the first day of play, dropping the first two games of the weekend series by scores of 6-0 and 7-1.

In the first game of the day, the Lady Tigers were unable to score a run and only recorded two hits. Rayn House took the loss for Ouachita, giving up six runs on nine hits to Southwestern, including four runs in the third inning. Alexis Johns and Megan Askew recorded the Lady Tigers’ two hits in the game, both of which were left on base at the end of the inning. Southwestern had four players finish with at least one RBI in the game and two who finished with two. With the 6-0 loss, the Lady Tigers fell to 4-7 in Great American Conference play.

In the second game of the day, the Lady Tigers again had trouble at the plate, only recording three hits and a single run in a 7-1 loss. Abbi Frakes took the mound for Ouachita, throwing 2.1 innings before being replaced by Nicole Wilganowski. Frakes gave up five runs, four of which were earned, during her time on the mound. Johns finished with a 2-of-4 performance from the plate, including the only RBI for the Lady Tigers, when she scored Sarah Watson in the seventh inning. Jocelyn Jones recorded the other hit for the Lady Tigers. Ouachita fell to 4-8 in GAC play with the second loss.

The Lady Tigers will face off against Southwestern again tomorrow beginning at noon.
