Lady Tigers Improve Conference Standing With Victory Over Southeastern Oklahoma

February 12, 2012

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- An 11-of-14 performance from the free throw line and a total of 24 points for senior Tamara Robinson proved to be the difference, as the Ouachita Lady Tigers (14-8, 7-5 GAC) downed Southeastern Oklahoma (9-13, 5-7 GAC) by a final score of 88-82. The Lady Tigers held a 15 point lead at one point, but the Savage Storm just wouldn’t go away. They fought back valiantly and kept themselves in the game before eventually falling.

As previously mentioned, Robinson led the Lady Tigers in offensive production, while sophomore Nashia James added 15 points for Ouachita. Senior A’Laeshia adams finished with 13 points for Ouachita, while sophomore Elise Holman added nine. Robinson led the Lady Tigers in rebounds, recording 10 over the course of the game for a double-double.

Southeastern was led by Brooklyn Horton, who finished with 19 points, while Ronay English added 18 for the Savage Storm. Nikki Nester and Bailey Welch rounded out the pack of double-digit performers for Southeastern, recording 12 and 10 points respectively.

Ouachita only turned the ball over 11 times while Southeastern also did a good job of limiting turnovers, only committing 14 of their own. Ouachita also won the rebounding category, recording 35 rebounds as compared to Southeastern’s 34 rebounds.

Ouachita returns to action on Thursday, February 16, when they travel to Searcy for a match-up with the Bisons of Harding University. Tip-off for that game is slated for 5:30 p.m.
