ARKADELPHIA- With a 2-0 victory in the second game of the doubleheader, Ouachita Baptist split with Arkansas-Monticello in Gulf South Conference West Division action at Sully Anderson Field on Friday.

Ouachita (19-19, 13-9 GSC West Division) lost Game 1 against Arkansas-Monticello (34-11, 14-10 GSC West) at 8-0, before the reigning GSC Player of the Week in freshman Rayn House shut down the Cotton Blossoms in Game 2, allowing just four hits and no runs in the victory.

In the first game, the Cotton Blossoms scored two runs in four different innings, holding Ouachita to just one hit that occurred in the second inning on a single down the left field line for junior Alexis Johns. The junior finished at 1-for-2 offensively, as senior pitcher Kristen Rigsbee (7-10) took the loss on the mound, going 1.2 innings and allowing two earned runs while striking out one.

The second game of the doubleheader provided much more excitement for Ouachita, as the Lady Tigers scored a run in the first and fourth innings for the only offense of the game for either team.

For the Lady Tigers in the bottom of the first, sophomore Megan Askew doubled to lead off the game, scoring on a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead.

Ouachita struck again in the fourth, as sophomore Bailey Sanders connected on her first collegiate home run, a solo shot to left field to set the final margin.

Sanders finished at 2-for-2 in the game with an RBI, while Askew (1-for-3, run) and freshman Teresa Mursuli (1-for-2) added hits.

On the mound, House (8-4) proved again why the Paris, Texas native was named GSC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, going seven innings for the complete game shutout. House allowed just four hits and struck out two in the win.

Ouachita and Arkansas-Monticello will finish out the four-game series on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. at Sully Anderson Field.
