October 8, 2013

Todd McNeelWhen and where were you born?

February 4, 1993

Do you have any siblings? If so, what are their names and how old are they?

I have 7 siblings; Andi, 20. Tory, 18. Davain, 17. Shayla, 12. Shaila, 12. Armyan, 8. Aaden, 5.

Where did you go to high school?

East Side High School in Newark, N.J. James Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas.

Were you involved in any extracurricular activities in high school? If so, which ones?

Pop A Capella Choir, tennis, basketball, theater, Ready, Set, Teach! and Texas Association of Future Educators.

Why did you decide to come to Ouachita Baptist University?

Tiger Tunes and Festival of Christmas. Stephanie and Cory Epps (former host and hostess) are really the reason. I worked with Stephanie’s mom my junior and senior year of high school and all she ever talked about was the awesome experience and music productions put on at Ouachita. Their family brought me up here to see FOC 2010 and I was sold.

What is your major(s) and minor(s)?

Mass communications and speech communications major.

What on-campus activities do you participate in at OBU?

Rho Sigma, OSF, the Signal, SNATS, Ouachita Singers, Ouachita Sounds and a job at Sodexo.

What are your goals after graduation?

I want to move somewhere I’ve never lived before and travel the world. I want to move to a city where I can pursue my love of music but also work in the communications field.

What is your ideal job?

Working for a Marketing or PR firm and also doing side work, like singing with a summer season opera company. Moving to a city where I can do both. Working during the day, singing by night. My dream would honestly be to just singing opera for the rest of my life.

Why did you decide to try out to be a Tiger Tunes hostess?

It was my Ouachita dream. I love to perform and I’ve wanted to be a host since I found out about Tunes in high school. I got to do the freshman show my freshman year, and I directed my club’s show last year, so I wanted a total different experience with Tunes and I’m loving it.

Did you look to anyone for advice as you thought about trying out? Who and why?

Friends that were hosts and hostesses in the past. I’ve been preparing for this audition since my freshman year, even though I didn’t audition until the end of my sophomore year. I had a list of songs I wanted to sing, analyzed what fit well with my voice and what would please the crowd.

What was your reaction when you first learned you had been chosen as a hostess?

I work in the caf as a part time job, so I was prepping to serve dinner for the night. I saw the number and answered and freaked out. I jumped around. It was so cool to hear people say congrats all night as I served their food.

What do you want people to remember most about the 2013 Tiger Tunes show?

That we gave an amazing all around show, that musically blow people’s mind. We have such a talented group. We each bring something to the group and we sound amazing together.

What has been the funniest experience so far as you all have been practicing for Tiger Tunes?

Seeing how rhythmically challenged we can all be at times when it comes to the dancing. We have some amazing dance moves and Grace has really whipped us into shape, but the journey to looking as good as we do was a struggle. You can tell by the sweat on our shirts at the end of a rehearsal.
