Men’s Soccer Takes Loss to Lindenwood Due to Late Goal

September 17, 2012

ST. CHARLES, Mo.- The Ouachita men’s soccer team (4-4) entered their Sunday match-up with Lindenwood on a three game win streak and they were looking to make it four. It was a tough afternoon for the Tigers, as they were put on the defensive all afternoon, and sadly, a late goal from Lindenwood’s Axel Duarte sealed their fate, capturing the victory for Lindenwood by a score of 1-0.

The Tigers only took six shots in the contest, three of which were on goal. Lindenwood on the other hand, was able to get off 24 shot attempts, nine of which were on goal. David Henley was in the net for Ouachita, recording eight saves in the 90 minute contest, but allowing the only goal of the game in 67th minute.

Rizvan Ceka, Payam Pourjavad and Nathan Gay recorded the Tigers’ shots on goal in the game, while Ceka took three of the Tigers nine shots in the contest.

Ouachita had two corner kicks in the contest, while Lindenwood had five. There were two yellow cards given in the game, both of which were given to Lindenwood players.

Ouachita will look to rebound on September 23, when they travel to Wichita Falls, Texas for a match-up against Midwestern State University. That game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
