OBU golf takes fourth at HSU Invitational

The Ouachita Baptist University men’s golf team opened the season by finishing fourth during the two-day Henderson State Invitational at the Hot Springs Country Club.

The Tigers finished with a 635 as Delta State won the event with a 595. Host Henderson State was second with a 616, while the Delta State “B” team was third with 625. Behind Ouachita was Southern Arkansas (673), Christian Brothers (693) and the Tigers’ “B” team with a 697.

Blake Sisson led Ouachita on the course as he finished tied for eighth after shooting a two-day total of 155. Sisson shot a 78 during the opening round and a 77 during Tuesday’s final round. Rob Greer was 12th with a 157 (74-83), while Cole Fisher tied for 13th with a 159 (83-76). Klayton Seyler was tied for 19th with a 164 (82-82) and Dax Demaree rounded out the scoring for the Tiger “A” team with a 169 (84-85) to finish tied for 25th.

Bobby Allen paced Ouachita’s “B” team by finishing with a 169 (83-86) to tie for 25th. Tanner Simon shot a 171 (85-86) to take 29th and his brother Tyler, was tied for 31st with a 174 (86-88). Clay Fitzhugh finished tied for 36th with a 183 (94-89).

Ouachita returns to action March 2-3 at the Texas A&M-Commerce Classic in Pottsboro, Texas at the Tanglewood Resort.
