OBU Golf tied for 12th after opening round

The Ouachita Baptist University men’s golf team is tied for 12th after Monday’s opening round of the Pepsi Crawford-Wade Invitational at the Tanglewood Country Club.

The Tigers, who had 36 pars and eight birdies, shot a first-round 325 to enter the clubhouse tied for 12th. Central Oklahoma leads the field with a 288. Host Texas A&M-Commerce is second with a 301. Behind the Lions were, St. Mary’s (309), Arkansas Tech (310), Southwest Oklahoma State (311), Henderson State (316), Midwestern State (316), East Central (318), Rockhurst (318), Incarnate Word (318), Southeastern Oklahoma State (320) and West Texas A&M (325). Behind Ouachita was Harding (338), Oklahoma Panhandle State (341) and Southern Arkansas (351).

Rob Greer paced Ouachita during the opening round with a 78 as he fired a 38 on the front nine and a 40 on the back to enter the clubhouse tied for 22nd. Blake Sisson, who is tied for 37th, shot an 80 (39-41), while Dax Demaree, who is tied for 56th, fired an 83 (39-44). Cole Fisher finished with an 84 (40-44) and is tied for 62nd, and Klayton Seyler is tied for 72nd with an 87 (41-46).

The two-day tournament concludes 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 3 at Tanglewood Country Club.
