OBU women’s soccer comes up short against Delta State

The Ouachita Baptist University women’s soccer team dropped a tough Gulf South Conference match Sunday afternoon, falling 2-0 to Delta State.

Laura Swanson broke a scoreless tie in the 29th minute with a goal on an assist by Erin Smith. Delta State (9-4-2 overall, 3-1 GSC) kept a 1-0 advantage until the 89th minute when Ashley Cechovsky found the back of the net to give the Lady Statesmen a 2-0 lead.

Sarah Glenn played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lady Tigers (1-6, 0-6), recording 11 saves. Sarah Prevost didn’t record a save for Delta State.

Ouachita will continue Gulf South Conference action 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22 against Christian Brothers at the OBU Soccer Complex.
