OBU Women’s Tennis falls to West Florida

The Ouachita Baptist University women’s tennis team fell to Gulf South Conference East Division foe West Florida, 9-0, Friday morning at the Heflin Tennis Center.

In doubles action, the team of Suzanna Cavalcante and Ojeda defeated Natalia Drada and Tavu Fa, 8-1. Taylor Brewster and Renata Mattos topped Mariana Divardin and Katie Potts, 8-2, while Yana Kokareva and Cammie Gray beat Thoka Zulu and Megan Ruggles, 8-1.

In singles play, Cavalcante defeated Drada, 6-1, 6-0 and Bokareva topped Fa, 6-7, 6-0, 7-6, 6-2, 6-4. Mattos beat Divardin, 7-5, 6-3, while Brewster knocked off Potts, 6-2, 6-0. Gray blanked Zulu, 6-0, 6-0 and Naomi Higa defeated Ruggles, 6-0, 6-1.

Ouachita returns to action March 7 in Russellville, Ark., to take on Henderson State and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
