OBU Women’s Tennis takes down Henderson State, 6-3, in Battle of the Ravine Series

ARKADELPHIA- After going down 2-1 after doubles action, Ouachtia Baptist reeled off five victories in singles play, defeated Henderson State, 6-3, in Gulf South Conference Women’s Tennis action on Tuesday at the Heflin Tennis Center.

Ouachita (1-4) picked up a victory in doubles from senior Mariana Divardin and freshman Kourtney Chumbley with an 8-3 decision over Henderson State’s Julia Still and Lucia Androde in the No. 1 spot. Meanwhile, the Lady Reddies answered with victories in the No. 2 and 3 spots, taking a 2-1 advantage heading into singles competition.

From there, the Lady Tigers would never look back, defeating their cross-town rival in the No. 1-4 spots and picking up a victory at No. 6, as well. Divardin picked up a victory at No. 1 over Tina Goswani after leading 6-2 due to an injury to Goswani.

Chumbley defeated Lucia Andrade, 6-3, 6-4, while sophomore Lilia Sokolova of Ouachita took a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Nikki Goswani. Junior Kristin Bodine provided a victory for the Lady Tigers in the No. 4 spot, providing a win over Natalie Foster, 6-4, 6-3.

To close out the match, freshman Maria Kieseleva fell to Henderson State’s Julia Still, 6-4, 6-3, while sophomore Samantha Street easily provided a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Sarah Camras.

Ouachita will return to action on March 11 against Southeastern Oklahoma State at 9 a.m. at the Heflin Tennis Center.
