Ouachita to host Jazz Band concert Nov. 22

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.—Ouachita Baptist University’s Jazz Band will present a concert Monday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Performing Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public.

“I am excited about the fall performance by the Jazz Band,” said Craig Hamilton, Lena Goodwin Trimble Professor of Music and director of bands at Ouachita. “We have a varied program of jazz styles from swing to Latin to funk – something for everyone.”

The program will include: “Blues Mode” by Rich Sigler, “Come Fly with Me” by John Berry, “Afternoon In Paris” by Mark Taylor, “Come Out Swingin’” by Larry Neeck, “Willow Weep for Me” by Ballad/Shuffle, “Little Sunflower” by Mike Kamuf, “Shortstop” by Carl Strommen, “Sky Dive” by Erik Morales, “Emergency Stopping Early” by Craig Skeffington and “NAIMA” by Craig Skeffington.

Selections featuring vocal soloist Grace Johnson include “Cry Me a River” by Jerry Nowak, “Sway” by Mark Taylor and “Moondance” by Victor Lopez. Johnson is a senior vocal performance major from Tyler, Texas.

“I hope everyone will come out for a fun evening of great music,” Hamilton said.
