The Ouachita Tiger wrestling team finished 12th overall and boasted two All-Americans when things were all said and done at the NCAA Division II National Championships on Saturday.

The Tigers finished with 26 team points, while Garret Evans and Dallas Smith both notched their second All-American performances of their careers.

Evans finished 3-3 at the championships in the 125 lb weight class, good enough to notch him a sixth place finish and his second straight All-American award. He recorded two wins by decision and one by a 7-5 sudden victory decision.

Josh Myers was unable to overcome a pair of tough matches in the 141 lb division, dropping his first match in a 6-4 sudden victory decision and his second in a tough 3-2 decision.

In the 165 lb class, Dexter Carter finished 0-2, falling by pin in his first match and in a 5-2 decision in his second match of the Championships.

Dallas Smith, the Tigers’ other All-American, posted a 3-1 record in the 184 lb class and finished as the national runner-up. He won his first match in a 10-1 major decision before pinning his second opponent. His third win came in a 5-3 decision before falling to Shamus O’Grady of St. Cloud State in the finals. O’Grady entered the Championships with a 40-1 record on the year.

Nebraska-Kearney won the overall team score with 108 points, while St. Cloud State and Notre Dame College finished second and third with 105 and 103.5 points respectively.
